She found refuge in The Netherlands where she founded the first female football league in the Netherlands: The Queen Football League. She later founded Fitness Platform: Sporthy to connect sports experts with everyday people.

In addition to her Sports Success, Kanessa is the founder of Plus-Size Retail Clothing Line: MULU Love whose name is derived from "full" in Amharic, the official language of Kanessa's home counry: Ethiopia.
